  • Are all of your sessions virtual?
Yes! Find a comfortable spot to connect from the comfort of your home, don’t worry about traffic, and let’s get started.
  • Do you offer sliding scale therapy?
Select sliding scale spots are available at $125/hr. Please reach out if you feel that you may reach the requirements for this position.
  • What is the difference between a psychologist, a psychiatrist, and a psychotherapist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health disorders and prescribe medication. Psychologists have a PhD level education in Psychology and have the ability to diagnose, but cannot prescribe medication. They also might provide talk therapy, psychometric testing, and psychological assessments or a combination of these. Psychotherapists have expertise in personalized, non-medication-based therapy. They have the ability to assess, however cannot diagnose or prescribe medications. If you’re seeking emotional well-being, personal growth, or specific therapeutic approaches, consulting a psychotherapist can be a highly effective choice tailored to your unique needs and preferences. *I work alongside a Registered Psychologist who is able to diagnose so if you are looking for a diagnosis I am able to help with this
  • Do I need a referral?
You are able to self-refer and you can book online here. You may choose to have a referral for income tax purposes or if your insurance requires you to do so.
  • What can I expect in my first session?
During our first couple of meetings, we'll start with a structured assessment and dive into meaningful exploration at a pace that feels comfortable for you. These first sessions are all about getting to know your needs and goals and making sure you feel relaxed in my therapy office. I get that meeting a new therapist can be nerve-wracking, no matter how much experience you have with therapy. My main goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where you feel comfortable and supported right from the start.
  • Is Registered Psychotherapy covered by Insurance?
Yes, many insurance companies and workplaces cover a certain amount of counselling provided by Registered Psychotherapists. For each counselling session, you will receive a receipt after payment. This receipt can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement, or you can use it for tax purposes. Additionally, our services are supervised by a Registered Psychologist, whose credentials will also appear on your receipt to ensure compliance with insurance requirements. Please consult your specific insurance provider or workplace benefits administrator (HR) to confirm the extent of your coverage for counselling services. Unfortunately this service is not covered by OHIP.
  • What are your hours?
My client hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-6. Please reach out if you require a time outside of those hours as I may be able to accommodate.
  • How long will I need to be in therapy?
Every individual's journey towards better health is unique. The duration of therapy depends on various factors, including the nature of your condition, your personal goals, and your progress over time. Generally, short-term therapy can last anywhere from 12-20 sessions, while long-term therapy can extend for years. Remember, the ultimate goal is your wellness, and in my practice we'll support you every step of the way.
  • As per private therapy practice standards, what is the cancellation policy for appointments?
If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, or if you miss an appointment, you will be billed the full cost of your appointment. This helps to respect everyone's time. Thank you for your kindness and understanding.
